02How we use cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies in the following ways:
- Strictly necessary: required for the Service to work, such as keeping you signed in and maintaining security. These cannot be switched off through our consent banner.
- Preferences: remember choices you make, such as your consent selection, so we don’t ask again unnecessarily.
- Analytics: help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it, via Microsoft Azure Application Insights. These are only set where you accept the Analytics category below.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| sg-cookie-consent | Remembers your cookie preference choice (browser local storage, not a network cookie) | Until you change your preferences |
| next-auth.session-token | Keeps you signed in (strictly necessary) | Session / [CONFIRM: confirm expiry] |
| ai_user, ai_session | Azure Application Insights analytics — only set if you accept the Analytics category | Up to 1 year / 30 minutes |
[CONFIRM: legal sign-off on the exact cookie inventory above before publish]
03Managing your cookies
When you first visit StGatherly, a banner lets you accept, reject, or customize non-essential cookies. You can change your browser settings at any time to block or delete cookies, though some features may not work correctly if you block strictly necessary cookies.
Most browsers explain how to manage cookies in their help pages. You can usually find these settings under “Privacy” or “Security”.
